TIFA

Tifa

The upcoming singing sensation Tifa was born Latifa Brown on December 12, 1983 in Kingston, Jamaica. Her interest in music developed from a very young age, as collecting records was the hobby of both her parents. She especially enjoyed listening to musical legends such as Earth Wind and Fire, Patti Labelle and Aretha Franklin.

Though Tifa now resides in the ‘uptown’ area of Kingston, she spent her younger years living on Duke Street in ‘downtown’ Kingston with her mother after her parents separated in 1986. The environment along with her stepfather Sampalue, the reggae producer who assisted in the building of several music careers such as Lady Saw, gave her a deep rooted love for dancehall music.

While attending Wolmer’s Preparatory, Tifa was actively involved in the School Choir, Drama Club and Wolmer’s Dance Troop where she won a gold medal in the 1994 festival competition. Tifa’s talent and love for the dramatic arts landed her a performance in the 1995 musical "Psalty the Singing Song Book," which staged at the National Arena and also in Montego Bay. A year later, Tifa was a member of the Ashe Caribbean Performing Arts Academy and Ensemble with whom she extensively toured the Caribbean and North America during 1996 to 2000. At Wolmer’s High School for girls, Tifa focused on dancing, where she has choreographed several of her high school concerts. As recognition for her choreographing talents grew, so did her passion for singing and songwriting. In early 2005, she decided to put her music first and foremost.

Tifa has been featured in Emperor’s music video "Red, Gold and Green" and has also worked with Emperor as a backup singer, recording on the Diamond Rush Records label; she also collaborated on "Party Tonight," a track with him on his present album.
Tifa has since teamed with producers like Danny Champagne from Champagne International Records and has also recorded tracks with Senanka Records. Her hit single "Oh-Oh!" was produced by Flow Factory, and she presently has a video out for "Oh Oh!" which was directed by Asha as well as herself.

Tifa has been working hard in the studio to produce the upcoming singles "I’m So Sorry," which was produced by Ward 21 at the Natural Bridge Studio, "Kitty Police" for TJ Records and "Ready Tonight" for Mo Music, as well as a host of other singles for various known producers. The young talent will show her singing and performing skills at a variety of upcoming shows in Jamaica and the USA. You will hear a lot more from Tifa, who is ready and set to make her way to the top.
